The Magical North Shore
PRINCEVILLE, just 30 miles from the main airport (Princeville also has a commuter airport), is the center of resort, golf and real estate development on the Northshore. With the oceanfront Princeville Hotel, now FIVE STAR, renovated to the tune of over $ 100 million (at 4 years old); the 45th spectacular golf hole just completed (with the opening of the already legendary PRINCE COURSE, named No. 1 in the state!);
a big shopping center expansion in the planning stages; a new sports complex, and the elegant new entry now completed, Princeville is the best-known spot at this end of Kauai. Suntori LTD., the new owner has announced that they plan for Princeville to be the world's Premier Resort... and they can afford it!
Neighboring KILAUEA (Established 1878), on the other hand, is a sleepy little town of about 2000 area residents preferring to leave the tourism and real estate development hustle and bustle entirely in Princeville. Located on the Northernmost point of the inhabited Hawaiian Islands, the Kilauea plain has an idyllic setting, with those wonderful trade winds and an equally amazing, peaceful bunch of people who cherish it's unique beauty.
Kilauea's new "Agricultural Subdivisions" (lots 2 to 10 acres from $ 150,000) are still selling and the Island's special lure is beginning to attract the outside world: Sylvester Stallone, George Harrison, Kareem Abdul Jabbar (just recently sold), Bette Midler, and Isham Kashoggi are among the luminaries who own estates.
